The Washington Capitals traded Maxim Lapierre and Jussis Jokinens defenseman, Maxim Lapierere and Matt Murray, according to Ken Wiebe of the Washington Post.
The deal gives the Caps a pair of defensemen that can help shore up the back end of their blue line.
Lapierres, 23, had seven goals and 21 assists in 61 games for the Buffalo Sabres last season.
Murray, 29, has 23 goals and 35 assists in 74 games with the New Jersey Devils this season.
Washington is still waiting for forwards Matt Calvert and Mark Alt, but has a number of picks from its 2015 draft class, including forward Andrew MacWilliam and defenseman Kyle Wilson.
Washington could have some tough decisions to make on its blue line, as it enters the season with just four forwards and seven defensemen.
