“It Is People Power That Makes All the Difference”
Kailash Shahani, Managing Director, Morpheus Human Consulting Pvt Ltd, in an interview with People and Management, shares his valuable thoughts on HR solution market, role of technology in HR, Morpheus’ strategy and future plans. Excerpts:
Factors like stiff business competition and gaining optimum market share in the highly competitive markets have opened many prospects for the consulting and advisory services in India. As per reports, the Indian consulting market has seen a growth of about four per cent in recent years despite economic slowdown. A study by Source Information Services published on Consultants-News website, states that in some ways the economic slowdown helped in increasing the demand in India’s consulting market as clients look for help to increase revenue and improve efficiency
Just like other industries, even the recruitment sector is on a boom in Southern India. Morpheus Human Consulting currently has 16 franchisees in India and the Middle East who are helping the brand in this revenue stream. Morpheus has two outlets in Chennai and Coimbatore. Kailash Shahani, Founder, Morpheus Human Consulting Pvt Ltd opines: “As per the latest survey done by a leading portal company, recruitment market in Southern India is set to grow by 23 per cent which is far better than other regions. This business potential has created a sudden need to shift focus to this region. Our expansion in the Middle East has also ensured that we focus on southern India market considering 65 per cent of the Indian nationals comprised majorly from this region. We intend to add at least seven new franchise outlets which would cover Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka by the end of 2014.”

Dixit further suggests, “It is also important to update your skills and achievements from time to time. Profile completeness does not mean only employment/academic chronology. You must also mention other achievements, hobbies, interests, etc.”
“Candidates should talk about freelance, contract or part-time work they might be doing, and explain the types of job opportunities you’re seeking,” adds Shahani.
Kailash Shahani, MD of Morpheus Consulting tells me about a leading company denied a promising candidate a job when they stumbled upon some racist comments he’d made during the 2011 cricket world cup.
“The candidate probably wasn’t even aware that his activities were being screened. But a third party organisation that was involved with background checks scanned his profile and made a note of these remarks. That worked against him,” he recollects, “And to think that it wasn’t even a very senior position!”
